The Park Place provides amazing room accommodations by providing three different types, West Wing Rooms, Tower Rooms, and Suites to fit any traveler or group. Though the location is great, the hotel doesn't stop there. Located in the heart of downtown Traverse City, you truly can’t find a more convenient place to stay. Hit up one of our favorite places to stay in downtown Traverse City! This Knights Inn was as least as good as a Comfort Inn, Homewood Suites or Best Western+, if not better. The staff was helpful, considerate and super-friendly throughout the weekend, even as they were dealing with a packed house of hyper runners. And she did! She extended my checkout til 1pm! I wound up dropping the key off at 1:15pm and she was totally fine with it. Jessica was very empathetic and I knew she wanted to find a way to accommodate my needs (my stress was palpable!). I couldnt get on a plane without a shower after running 26.2 miles! And I needed to change clothes and repack. She explained her dilemma, which I understood, and I explained mine. I asked to speak with the manager, Jessica, and we proceeded to have a fair conversation. The hotel was 100% full, and the best the very nice young behind the desk could do was extend my check out til noon.

But I had to shower and repack before leaving for the airport. Checkout time was 11am, and I wasn't getting back to the hotel after the race until at least 12:15. There was almost one disastrous situation, but I was saved by their great staff. Along with 24/7 coffee they provided bagels with spreads, pastries, yogurt, juice, water, cereals, bananas and other fruit and more. And there is a lovely outdoor pool on the premises to boot! On marathon morning they moved the continental breakfast up from 6am to 5am to accommodate runners. large tv, microwave, even nice toiletries. It was very clean everywhere, the room with a king size bed was perfect, e.g. But much to my surprise and delight, this 2 star hotel was more like a solid 3.5+ star hotel. I definitely had some trepidations when I booked it. Knights Inns carry a 2 star rating, and many of them have low consumer ratings. and they're located in a nice neighborhood within walking distance to the start/finish line. However, they were still much lower than any other hotel in the vicinity. I was there for a local marathon, and like ALL hotels on marathon weekend nwho raise their prices, the Knights Inn was no exception. I don't write a lot of hotel reviews here, but my Traverse City Knights Inn experience was exceptional. Would probably choose to stay at a quieter hotel out of town if we were coming back to the area. They ran out of coffee by 8:30 and we didn't eat breakfast there but it looked like a typical hotel breakfast. The shower was large and enough pressure and hot water. A/C unit was on the wall away from the window and tucked into the corner of the room. The room we had on the second floor was large with typical coffee maker, fridge, microwave.

The towels were thin, the vent/fan in the bathroom came on with the light and was loud and seemed to not do an adequate job of clearing the steam, the A/C unit was so loud we turned it off, the fridge was loud too. The noise from the street nearby was loud, but expected with the motel that close to the road. The beds were stiff (even with my mattress pad I always bring). This was definitely a motel with the doors facing the parking lot. It was a "deal" at $274/room for TC in the spring/summer. We chose to stay here because we were attending a wedding in the area and it was one of the few available hotels in the area.
